Land Trust Stewardship Program

Our Land Trust Stewardship Program is dedicated to the long-term protection, care, and enhancement of conserved lands. Through regular monitoring, landowner engagement, habitat management, and legal documentation, we ensure that conservation easements and protected properties remain ecologically healthy and compliant with their intended purposes—forever. Stewardship is not just a responsibility; it’s a commitment to future generations.

The Land Trust Stewardship Program is the foundation of our long-term conservation mission. It ensures that all lands under conservation easements or owned by the trust are responsibly monitored, legally upheld, and ecologically cared for in perpetuity. Stewardship involves more than compliance—it is about fostering resilient landscapes, strong relationships, and adaptive management rooted in science and community.

Each year, our team conducts thorough monitoring of every easement and property, using a combination of field visits, georeferenced photo documentation, and GIS mapping. We work closely with landowners to review easement terms, answer questions, and offer support for best practices in conservation land management. All findings are recorded in detailed reports to maintain transparency, legal defensibility, and ecological insight.

For fee-owned lands, we carry out active stewardship including invasive species removal, native habitat restoration, prescribed burns, sustainable trail management, and biodiversity monitoring. Stewardship plans are adaptive, allowing us to respond to shifting climate, ecological succession, and emerging land use pressures.

The program also emphasizes education and engagement—building lasting partnerships with landowners, volunteers, and community members who help us care for these protected landscapes. Whether safeguarding rare habitats, maintaining agricultural heritage, or protecting vital watersheds, stewardship ensures that the conservation promise we make today is fulfilled for generations to come.
